The Fiessler Retrofit AKAS-2F Press Brake Safety System is the most sophisticated press brake point of operation safeguarding retrofit available on this planet and was designed to keep your operators safe even working close to the tooling. Fingers, hands, arms and other appendages can be easily injured or lost due to unsafe press brake operation. Utilizing the latest in laser grid sensing technology and positive force circuit control, the AKAS-2F allows the smallest parts to be handled safely with no significant impact to production. It’s affordable safety that’s constantly on guard and that you can hardly afford to be without.
The AKAS-2F Laser Protection System has been considered safe by OSHA as an acceptable form of guarding device for hydraulic press brakes under 29CFR 1910.212 and was developed in response to EN12622, IEC61496, OSHA 1910.212 and ANSI B11.3-2012 for press brake tool safeguarding. This system can provide a safer work environment in a small custom installed retrofit package.

To date more than 35,000 AKAS laser safety systems have been sold worldwide as customers demand the Fiessler brand, known for both performance and reliability. This makes the AKAS laser guarding system the most popular retrofit product of this nature available today.
Change over from one punch size to another creates virtually no down time due to the exclusive patented AKAS automated “smart sense” self-aligning feature. This speedy automated alignment saves our customers hours of labor now spent more productively. The competitor’s alignment methods require more time and patience to make similar tooling height adjustments by hand. Watch the short video on the home page to understand the safety benefits intelligent control provides workers without interfering with production. See for yourself how this one benefit may make the difference in how much more work you can get done.
In order for the AKAS press brake safety system to function properly the press brake ram must be designed and function to operate in both fast and slow speed. The forming speed must not exceed 10 mm or .393” per second. Press brakes must operate in accordance with these specifications or must be serviced to perform as such prior to the AKAS installation. NOTE: For press brakes that cannot be stopped and reversed using the electric valves, often these functions can be added at additional expense. On up-acting style press brakes an electric valve must be added by the customer beforehand to retract the beam. Based on the specific overrun traverse of the particular model press brake the AKAS integrator will determine the specific safety zone during installation. As a general rule, the older the model press brake the greater the safety zone required. The maximum press brake width for the AKAS-2F is 32 feet.
